Apefanie was up bright and early this morning! Today was a special day... On this day, two years ago, she gave birth to her one and only baby girl, Ne'Aijah and today, she intended to celebrate. Apifanie had a huge party planned, and her big sister and little cousin were driving in from Willow Creek with all five of Ne'Aijah's little cousins! She spent the entire morning cooking and prepping for the party!
Just as Apefanie got everything she needed, and finished getting Ne'Aijah dressed and ready for her big day, she heard a knock at the front door!
"Oooh! That's our first guest, baby girl !" She said, excitedly.
Little Ne'Aijah giggled. "Yaay" She replied. Ne'Aijah went to the front door and saw that it was Major.
"Ne'Aijah, it's your daddy!" Apifanie said, opening the front door and smiling. "Hey Major."
Major greeted her with a warm hug. "Hey Beautiful." he said. His embrace caught her off guard, and his perfume filled her nostrils. The combination of how he smelled and how she felt up against his body made her want to faint. "Where's my birthday girl?" He asked.
"She's inside." Apifanie said, gathering herself together. And she was glad that she did, because her sister and her cousin showed up only a few minutes after Major arrived. Apifanie was relieved that they'd pulled up because they made it easy not to think about Major. There was something about today that made her want him... more than usual.
The party went off without a hitch! Little Ne'Aiajah got to play with her cousins and Apifanie got to catch up with her family. But no matter how natural Apifanie & Major tried to act, everyone in the room could see the two of them eyeing each throughout the entire party.
It was only after little Ne'Aijah blew out her candles and everyone settled down for cake, Major finally worked up enough nerve to re-approach Apifanie. He could feel all the eyes he had on him. Apifanie was standing in the kitchen, talking to Isla and Tasha when he walked up. And asked Apifanie if they could talk in private. Both Isla and Tasha gave him the side eye, but didn't say a thing.
Apifanie followed Major to a quite corner and asked "Is everything ok, Major?"
Niether of them noticed Apifanie's nosey cousin Isla move to a closer position to eavesdrop on their conversation.
"Yeah, babe... Everything is fine." Major said. "Look, I know your busy with the party and all, but uh... would you mind going out on a date with me?"
Apifanie was stunned... First of all, she hadn't went out on a date in YEARS. She didn't know anything about the night life anymore!! Secondly, she still wasn't sure if she was really ready to open up to Major, just yet. After a few moments though, Apifanie finally answered.
"Yeah, sure." She replied hesitantly, we can go out and have a few drinks." She said modestly. "Just don't call it a date though. It's creepy." The hugest smile spread across Major's face when she said that.
"That sounds like a 'plan' then." Major chuckled. He could accept that Apifanie couldn't trust him all the way yet. He STILL hadn't told her about Bratilda... but he had every intention to. You know? When the time was right... "Would tomorrow at 8PM sound good? I'll call my mom's and she can watch Ne'Aijah while we go out?" he asked, unable to hold back his excitement.
"Tomorow at 8 sounds perfect." Apifanie replied, grinning .
About a half an hour later, the party was over and Major along with most of the guests had departed home for the evening. Isla and Tasha decided to stay and help Apifanie clean up and allow the kids to play a little while longer. After they were done, the three of them sat down to eat, chat and catch up on old times. It only took seconds before Tasha popped the question.
"So, spill the tea, sus." Tasha said to her big sister.
Apifanie sat there confused. "What tea?" She asked. Both Tasha and her cousin Isla gave Apifanie a incredulous look.
" Cut the shit 'Pifanie!" Tasha said laughing. "You know what 'tea' I'm talkin' about. What's up with you and Major?" She asked boldly.
Apifanie blushed. "Nothing." She said. Tasha could always tell when her big sister was lying by her blushing.
"Yeah right." Tasha said, unconvinced.
"That AIN'T what I heard." Isla said, spilling the beans.
Apifanie began to gigle harder. "What?" She siad, guilty. "What did you hear then?" She asked.
"I heard him ask you out on a date. Don't play!" Isla said, smiling. " Don't think we didn't see you two flirting with each other the entire party. Apifaniie, Do you still have feelings for that man?" She asked Apifanie.
Apifanie looked around for a minute and bit her lip. "Uuggh." She exclaimed. "Listen, girls.... I'd be lying to you if I said I didn't still have feelings for Major. He's Ne'Aijah's daddy. Of course I do."
Both of the girls gasped. "I KNEW IT!!" Isla shouted. "I knew you still had feelings for that Nigga! I knew it!."
"Shut up Izz." Apifanie said, totally embarrassed. She looked over at her sister, Tasha who was still shaking her head.
"It's nothin' ya'll! I promise. He's just been coming around a lot lately. He's finally taking care of Apifanie and helping me out with bills... I was just being cordial." Apifanie said.
"Uuuuuhhhh-Huhhhh." Her sister Tasha, replied still unconvinced. "You just make sure you don't get too friendly..." Her sister Tasha warned. "Just remember that this is still the same man that left you to raise your child all by yourself and broke your heart. You'd betta be careful."
"I will, sis." Apifanie said. She would never forget that Major broke her heart But Major had been showing her a different, more responsible, loving and kind; something she'd never seen before... Could a man change?
