QUICK RECAP: It had been a month since Bratilda revealed to Major that she was carrying his baby and she hadn't spoken to him since. Meanwhile, Major and Apifanie seem to be patching their relationship up and growing closer and closer by the day. Trouble is, Apifanie has no idea that Major stepped out while they were still trying to work on their already broken relationship. Even though things are going well, Major isn't stupid enough to think that the odds will forever be in his favor. Here's the next installment of 'Is This Luck...?"
Major had just made it back from his morning jog when he received a suspicious text from Apefani.
"Major, Are you home? We need to talk." She texted. The words on his iphone made him anxious. What could Apifanie want to talk about? Apefanie hated Evergreen, why did she all of a sudden want to come over and visit? Major's conscience was beginning to get to him. His worst fear was that Apifanie had found out about Bratilda. Even though Major was panicking on the inside, he remained calm on the outside, and replied to her text.
"Yeah. I'm home, babe. What's up?" He replied back immediately. "Is everything ok?" He said, sending up a follow up text only seconds later.
"I'll be at your house in 5 minutes." She replied. . Lucky for Major, Apifanie arrived at his door three minutes later with something else on her mind....
" Major, I need a favor." She said with obvious worry in her eyes.
"Anything you need, I'm here Ma'. What's got you worried?" Major replied bluntly.
"Well..." She said, taking a deep breath. "So, I have to be at work in thirty minutes, and the baby sitter stood me up. I don't have anywhere to take Ne'Aija and I really need the money." Apifanie explained. She had been voicing to Major over the last few weeks how even though she'd won the lottery, after taxes and buying the new house, she was already flat broke.
Before Apifanie could go any further, he said. "Don't worry baby. You got to work, Just leave my daughter with me". His answer was simple, but seemed to solve everything. Major had missed a huge part of Ne'Aija's life because he had chosen to run the streets, so naturally she was pleased to see him step and be a father. A large smile crossed Apifanie's face.
"Oh, Major! Thank you! Thank you so much! I'll go get her, she's in the car!" Apifanie said, relieved and impressed all at the same time, but Major didn't want anything from Apifanie, other than to be her husband... And he was going to do whatever it took to be that man one day. Apifanie raced to the car, retrieved Ne'Aijah and brought her back to Major.
"DADDDY!!!" She shreiked, excited to see him! She ran and gave him with a big warm hug!
Apifanie's heart warmed as she watched the excitement in her babies eyes. "Mommy will be back soon!" She said kissing Ne'Aiajah on the forehead and hurrying off to work. "Thanks again, Major."
"No problem, beautiful." Major replied, just as Apifanie slipped out of the door. .
"Well, I guess it's just you and me today, Kid." Major said looking down at Ne'Aija as she smiled. Major decided right then and there that today, he wouldn't think about his mistakes, Bratilda, or this new baby… Instead, he would focus on his daughter Ne'Aija... And he'd just have to figure the rest out later.
to be continued...
